School districts along the shoreline are figuring out how students will make up three snow days this winter.
With many schools along the Connecticut shoreline either delayed or canceled because of the snow, parents and children found different ways to keep busy Wednesday.
Some spent time at the ice rink in New Haven.
“We bought hockey skates for him, so we're going to try them out. He's been skating, but first time with new skates,” said Kendra Martin, who brought her 3-year-old son to the rink.
The children didn't seem to mind swapping a normal school day for one they could spend with their friends.
“It's really fun…because we get to come here and ice skate,” said Teagan Ariyan, who goes to school in New Haven.
But with cancellations come make up days, and school districts are trying to plan ahead.
In Milford, students will now be in school until June 11 to account for three snow days. The last day of school was originally scheduled for June 6.

The New Haven school system built two snow days into the schedule, so now students will only have to make up one day. The district is still working to determine when that will be.
Parents said they aren't worried about their children having an extended school year just yet.
“The schools are working really hard to do early dismissals or late arrivals instead of canceling full days,” said Claire Kilmer, who is Teagan’s mom.
