Victim of Mt. Rainier Shooting Had Local Ties

Margaret Anderson was shot to death on Sunday.

The Iraq war vet suspected of shooting and killing the daughter of a reverend with ties to Westport, Connecticut has been found dead, MSNBC reports.

Margaret Anderson was shot to death just before 11 a.m. near the Longmire Ranger Station at Mount Rainier National Park, in Washington.

She was one of three children of Rev. Paul Kritsch, who served as pastor of St. Paul, a Lutheran church in Westport, until 1988. It appears they lived in Wilton at the time and the family moved to New Jersey.

Anderson, a 34-year-old mother of 1- and 3-year-old daughters, had set up a road block and was shot in her vehicle, before she even had a chance to get out, officials said during a news conference.

Anderson and her husband, Eric, both worked as rangers in the park. Margaret Anderson's father told the Seattle Times that the couple had long hoped to be working together in the same place.

Officials said Benjamin Colton Barnes, 24, was a "strong person of interest" in the slaying. He's believed to be well armed and have survivalist skills.
