West Hartford Police are investigating what appears to be two burglaries early Wednesday morning.

West Hartford Police are investigating what appears to be two burglaries early Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to The Wise Old Dog on South Quaker Lane after a burglar alarm was activated around 1:15 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the front door had been smashed and someone was able to enter the building.

A K-9 team from Manchester Police responded and cleared the building.

Store surveillance cameras showed a man with light facial hair wearing a hooded sweatshirt kick a window out of the front door and then enter the store. The footage showed the man walk behind the counter and conceal a large amount of liquor in a duffle bag before quickly leaving and heading southwest, police said.

A few hours later, police were called to Sam's Food Store on Boulevard after a burglar alarm was activated around 3:00 a.m. Officers found the front door of the store had been smashed with a brick and entry was made. The broken front door allowed access to the inside of the building that includes a Subway, Sam's Food Store and Dunkin Donuts.

A K-9 team from Manchester Police responded, but officers said they were unable to develop a suspect. Officers described the suspect as a thin man wearing a green shirt.

It is unclear if the two incidents are related.

There was another burglary at The Wise Old Dog on Aug. 11. Officers responded at 4:51 a.m. when a burglar alarm went off and found bottles of liquor on the ground and the front glass door to the business was smashed open.

In that burglary, a man stole a case of bottled liquor, according to police.
