Ex-IMF Chief Released on $1M Bail

Dominique Strauss-Kahn was released from his Rikers Island jail cell Friday after the ex-International Monetary Fund chief posted a $1 million cash bond and a $5 million insurance bond. State Supreme Court Justice Michael Obus said he would release the French big to temporary home detention in Lower Manhattan, pending trial for the attempted rape of a Manhattan hotel maid. He will stay at a corporate-housing building used by the security company that will keep him under armed guard 24/7 temporarily, until more permanent housing can be found. An earlier plan for Strauss-Kahn to stay with his wife at a rented Upper East Side apartment fell though because the building's management didn't want him.
