Nelson Mandela's Legacy

Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s iconic former president whose lifelong struggle against apartheid helped break the country’s system of racial discrimination, died Dec. 5, 2013, at the age of 95. Nelson Mandela (born Rolihlahla) was born July 18, 1918, in the small village of Mvezo to a chief named Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa.
