In an emotional reunion caught on camera, a man surprised an officer who saved his life 19 years ago when he was just a boy and drowning in a pool.

Chris Jones commented on a Facebook picture from a Columbus, Ohio, community event saying that officer James Poole had rescued him as a child, according to NBC affiliate WCMH.

Later, Jones, now 24, walked up to Poole during an interview asking if he remembered him.

When Poole said no, Jones replied:

"From 1997? I’m the boy you pulled out of a swimming pool," Jones said.

The two embraced as Jones thanked Poole for saving his life.

"Because of you, I’m still here. Because of you, this 5-year-old little girl is here," Jones said, referring to his 5-year-old daughter.

The entire emotional exchange was caught on camera.
