Neil DeGrasse Tyson on What Is Going On With Hurricanes

“Startalk” host Neil DeGrasse Tyson joined Harry for more on why we’re having so many hurricanes and earthquakes. Tyson said,”Okay, earth is pissed off. These are shocks across our bow, that’s what they are and what do scientists keep telling people and how long are you going to stand in denial of this? What do we do as scientists? We look for objective truths in the natural world. That’s what we do, that’s all we do. When we are in a position to establish an objective truth all kinds of people did the research and then when they all get to about the same result then we can say, ‘There it is. Lets write this up.’ Then, the national academy of sciences, creates a report, what is the national academy of sciences? Signed into law by Abraham Lincoln in 1863 saying I want a body of scientists to advise the government, the congress and the president when science matters to policy.” He added, “They set it up for this purpose. So when the documents come out and you have people choose not to believe it, you don’t have that option. That’s not your luxury to say this conflicts with my politics, therefore I don’t like it. Its true whether or not you like it or whether or not you believe in it.” For more interviews, check out “Harry.”
