VW Expands Minivan Recall as GM Recalls Fire-Prone SUVs

Volkswagen is expanding a three-year-old recall of Routan minivans because ignition switches can be knocked out of the drive position, causing a power shut off, according to U.S. safety regulators' reports. The automobile company recalled Routan minivans in 2011 over the same issue. Meanwhile, GM has issued a third recall on a group of SUVs over malfunctioning power window switches that can catch fire, a threat so serious that the company has warned customers to park the SUVs outdoors because they can catch fire when left unattended.
