NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT – NOVEMBER 18: The line of scrummage during the Yale V Harvard, Ivy League Football match at the Yale Bowl. Yale won the game 24-3 to win their first outright league title since 1980. The game was the 134th meeting between Harvard and Yale, a historic rivalry that dates back to 1875. New Haven, Connecticut. 18th November 2017.

After nearly two years off, the rivalry is renewed between the Yale Bulldogs and Harvard Crimson on Saturday.

The two football teams squared off at the Yale Bowl for "The Game."

The Yale Bowl and surrounding area was packed with people for the epic return. The game is so massive that the only event that brings in bigger crowds than this is Yale's commencement.

It was the first time the teams faced off since 2019.

Although the game was pretty similar to past years, there were some differences with traditions due to the pandemic. Usually, Yale students host Harvard students in their dorms, but this year, the university banned bunking up because of the pandemic.

That didn't put a damper on the spirits of those students, many of whom attended the Yale Bowl for the first time.

“There’s a lot of firsts that we missed out on last year that we’re finally getting to do," said Andy Lang.

“I think it’s just a really big tradition and it definitely makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger than yourself," added Victoria DeMersseman.

Harvard beat Yale with a score of 34-31. Harvard scored a go-ahead touchdown with 22 seconds left of the game.
