Prosecutors say a Brooklyn teen has been arrested on charges she assaulted a man with a rock after shouting anti-gay epithets at him.
The Daily News reports Friday that 18-year-old Safire Ellington is facing hate crime charges in connection with the attack.
The incident happened Tuesday night in Crown Heights.
Prosecutors say the 36-year-old victim told police he was approached by Ellington and five others. He said Ellington shouted anti-gay remarks before she spit at him.
They say she then picked up a rock and punched the man in the face with it. He suffered minor injuries.
Ellington was arraigned Wednesday and released without bail. Her attorney did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
A judge issued an order of protection for the victim.
