JC Monahan joined NBC10 Boston in July 2017 as the evening news anchor.
An award-winning journalist, JC has been honored with multiple Emmys, a Gracie award, an Edward R. Murrow as well as numerous local and state recognitions for her work both in the newsroom and the community.
During her time with NBC, she spent a month reporting from the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, the 2018 Super Bowl in Minnesota, the induction of David “Big Papi” Ortiz into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY as well as the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in 2024.
JC began her distinguished career in Boston in 2001 at WCVB-TV as the morning meteorologist. An AMS-sealed meteorologist, she parlayed her connection with viewers into a promotion to co-host of the country’s longest-running evening magazine program, Chronicle. In addition, JC became the news anchor for the stations 4 and 5 p.m. broadcasts. During this time, she co-produced and co-hosted a one-hour special on the Boston Marathon Bombings, covered Pope Francis’ visit to Washington D.C and Philadelphia and was reporting from the NYC hotel ballroom when news broke that Donald Trump had won the presidential election in 2016.
An activist for ending the stigma of mental health, JC wrote a powerful, personal essay in Boston Magazine that led to invitations to deliver public speeches to both state and local leaders about the changes that could save lives.
A Newton native, Boston has always been home for JC. Her connections to the city run deep as a third-generation Bostonian. She has two daughters who she’s raising to become future stewards of the city while pursuing their personal dreams in life. JC’s motto: life is not a dress rehearsal, LIVE IT!
