One Dead, Four Seriously Injured in Plymouth Crash

A 17-year old has died after a car crash in Plymouth early Saturday morning, and four others were seriously injured.

Plymouth police received a 911 call around 12:23 a.m. Saturday from a resident of the Town Hill Road area to report hearing a loud crash.

Dave and Sabrina Johnson heard the crash and rushed over to help.

“I was very surprised to see it was one car because I heard a horn and it sounded so horrific I thought for sure it was multi-car,” Sabrina explained.

Sabrina said the intersection of Town Hill and Cross Roads was complete chaos, with teenagers crying hysterically, some badly injured, and others wandering in the street.

While Sabrina called 911, Dave, a former EMT approached the car to see if there was anything he could do. He said the front seat passenger was unresponsive.

“I told him I was here with him, I told him that I was a nurse and that the ambulance and help was on the way, and we’d be getting him out of the car as soon as we could,” Dave told NBC Connecticut.

“I wanted him to know that there was somebody there with him and to explain to him that there were people helping him out of this horrible situation.”

Police said that there were eight male occupants in the Chevrolet Colbalt, ranging in age from 16 to 18 years old.

The 17-year-old front passenger was transported to the hospital via Lifestar. He died from his injuries.

The driver, an 18-year-old male, was transported to the hospital where he remains.

Four others were also transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Two of the passengers in the car fled the scene on foot. They called a relative, who picked them up and brought them to the police station.

“That’s one of our worst nightmares as an officer showing up on a scene like that, especially involving youth. Of course it affects everyone,” said Sgt. Randy Foster of the Plymouth Police Department.

None of the victims have been publicly identified.

The Connecticut State Police reconstruction team is assisting the investigation.
