Suspicious Man Offered Teens Candy in Naugatuck: Cops

Police are searching for a man who tried to lure two Naugatuck teens into his car by offering them candy.

Naugatuck police are investigating a second complaint of a suspicious man stopping to ask juveniles if they wanted candy on Friday morning.

Police said the second reported incident involved a male student at Naugatuck High School.

Police received the first complaint on Friday. A 13-year-old girl told police that a man in a green minivan approached her at Millville and May streets at 7:15 a.m. and asked if she wanted candy.

The descriptions of the man and the vehicle are similar in both incidents, police said.

Both victims said the man appears to be between 35 and 55 years old, possibly heavy set, with long dark hair.

He was driving a green or blue minivan, possibly a “Caravan.”

Police are asking residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.

They also said children should not walk alone.

Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to call the Naugatuck Police Department at (203) 720-5221 or the Naugatuck Police TIPLINE at (203) 720-1010.
