Dancers Set for 6th Annual “5 X 5 Dance Festival” in West Hartford

Professional as well as collegiate dancing will be on display between October 24 and 25 in West HartfordSaint Joseph College will present the Sixth Annual 5 x 5 Dance Festival as part of The Bruyette Athenaeum Performing Arts Series at The Carol Autorino Center for the Arts and Humanities, 1678 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford. This year’s festival will feature an expanded program of 14 collegiate and professional troupes.

The Collegiate Showcase takes place on Friday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. and will feature original choreography from Saint Joseph College, Eastern Connecticut State University, Trinity College, The Hartford Conservatory, Naugatuck Valley Community College and Central Connecticut State University.  The Collegiate Showcase will include a lecture and demonstration by Heidi Latsky Dance Company - noted for its work with dancers who have disabilities.  Additionally, Ballet Theatre Company will offer a special guest performance

The Professional Showcase takes place on Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. and will feature premiere works from ensembles including CONNectic Dance, Dance Connect, Judie Clark and the Clark Dance Theatre, Soma Dance Company, Exit 12, James Robey Dance Company and Scapegoat Garden. Special guest at the Professional Showcase will be Jane Forde, the director of the National Dance Project (NDP), a program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, which supports regional dance initiatives such as the 5 x 5 Festival.
