Records Shattered for Heat in April

Hot temperatures continued Friday, tying the record for the warmest April day on record in the state.

The temperature at Bradley Airport soared to 96 degrees Friday, shattering the old record of 82.

At 3 p.m. Friday, Windsor Locks was the warmest spot in the entire U.S.

Along the shoreline, Bridgeport reached a high temperature of 86 degrees. The old record for April 14 was 73.

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and Energy has issued an air quality alert for parts of southeast Connecticut for poor air quality. Those with respiratory issues are suggested to limit time outside during this afternoon.

Cooler weather is expected heading into the weekend. Cooler air and a rising chance for showers is expected on Saturday.
