A woman checking on her friend had reason to be concerned.
The woman found her friend's Waterbury apartment door ajar, police said. And when she went in, she found the body of 85-year-old Laura Orso in the kitchen.
Orso had been stabbed to death Thursday night, investigators said.
She lived alone at 28 Wesley St., so nobody seemed to notice until her friend arrived Saturday.
Police are trying to determine if Orso's murder could be the result of a robbery.
A wake will be held Friday. Her funeral will be held Saturday.
They are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Police said they have some leads. Anyone with information is asked to call Waterbury police.
