Firefighters Knock Down 2-Alarm Fire in New Haven

Firefighters knocked down a two-alarm fire on Chapel Street in New Haven Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 1187 Chapel St. just before 2 p.m. and video the fire department shared from the scene shows heavy smoke coming from the top of a building.

Initial reports were that there may be some people trapped in the building, but when firefighters arrived on scene they found no one trapped or in need of rescue, according to New Haven Fire Battalion Chief Bill Gould.
