An inmate from Osborn Correctional Center in Somers is dead after being attacked by another inmate.
David Dube, 60, of Hartford, was attacked in the hallway of the prison by another inmate just after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, officials at the prison told state police.
Dube lost consciousness briefly, but regained consciousness while still at prison and was transported to UConn Medical Center.
While in the hospital for treatment, his condition worsened and he was transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was reported to be in serious condition. He died on Friday.
The Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.
The State Police Major Crime Detectives and troopers are investigating.
