William Coleman is serving an eight-year sentence for rape is has been on a hunger strike since September 2007 to protest what he considers a corrupt judicial system.
The state started force-feeding Coleman in 2008 after he stopped accepting fluids and a judge has ruled that the state prisons department can continue to force-feed the British inmate.
Coleman says the charges were made up and maintains that the force-feedings violate his free speech rights.
David McGuire, an American Civil Liberties Union attorney representing Coleman, said on Friday that the ACLU is still reviewing Wednesday's decision by Superior Court Judge James Graham.
State officials have said they must ensure the physical well-being of prisoners.
