Lightning Really Does Strike Twice

Lightning has struck a Canterbury family's home for the second time.

Lightning has struck the Slotnick family's Canterbury home for the second time. Their house at 124 Bingham Road also was damaged by a lightning strike four years ago and once again Monday night.

Lightning struck a large tree in the front yard shortly before 7 p.m. and followed underground electrical wiring into the house.

The force splintered 6-foot-long chunks of the tree, ripped up a section of the driveway, blew out two tires on the family's pickup, and followed the wiring to an electrical panel in the basement.

There was no actual fire, but the family's television set also was damaged. No one was hurt in either incident.
