The suicide of a 17-year-old Goshen boy atop Mohawk Mountain Thursday morning has shattered spring break for his friends and community.

Michael Bockrath was a soccer star at Wamogo High School in Litchfield, the regional high school for Warren, Morris, and Goshen.

In his message on the school's website, the principal, William Egan, said, "In the last 24 hours, I have tried to find the right words to say to people who are struggling to deal with this tragedy. Sadly, the best I seem to be able to do is give a hug and let people know that I care."

Spring vacation at the school started Friday afternoon, but Egan said the help line, 211, is open around the clock for people if "you feel your child is in need of assistance."
