State Trooper Injured in I-84 Crash

Three people, including a state trooper, were taken to the hospital after a crash on Interstate 84 East in Manchester early Friday morning.

Police said the state trooper was conducting a motor vehicle stop near exit 63 just after 1:30 a.m. when another car hit the cruiser, pushing it into the stopped car, according to a news release from police.

The state trooper, identified as Christopher Melanson, 38, was out of his vehicle and was hit with debris, police said. He taken to Hartford Hospital to be evaluated for injuries that not life-threatening.
 
The driver responsible for the crash, identified as Ricardo Gonzalez, 28, of Manchester, was also injured and taken to Hartford Hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening.

Richard Rebusmen, 36. of Vernon, the driver of the car that was stopped was taken to Rockville Hospital to be evaluated.

Police are investigating.
