Teacher Charged With Risk of Injury

State police have arrested a Canterbury middle school teacher accused of possible inappropriate behavior/relationship with a 14-year-old student.

On June 1, police started investigating Eric Anderson, a 30-year-old teacher at Dr. Helen Baldwin Middle School.

Anderson, of Moosup, turned himself in to state police on Friday. He was charged with risk of injury to a minor and bond was set at $25,000.

According to minutes from a Canterbury Board of Education meeting in July, Anderson submitted a letter of resignation, effective June 8 and it was accepted.

According to a resume Anderson posted online, he taught arts and communication, coached soccer and basketball and ran several student groups.

He is due in Danielson Superior Court on Sept. 13.
