Two Killed in Weather-Related Crashes

A 51-year-old Vernon woman and a 32-year-old Hartford man were killed in weather-related crashes.

Two people died in weather-related crashes as a freak early storm covered much of the state in snow on Saturday into Sunday.

Linda Peddle, 51, of Vernon, suffered a head injury when her Nissan Altima and a Ford Ranger driven by Brian Hatch, 61, of Vernon, collided on Route 85 in Hebron at 1:47 p.m., on Saturday, police said.

Weather conditions were slippery at the time, according to the news release from State police.

Peddle was transported to Marlborough Medical Clinic and was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed and police ask anyone who witnessed the Hebron crash to call 860-537-7500, ext. 4060.

Alan Sheppard, 32, of Hartford, was killed when he was ejected from his Acura on Interstate 91 south in Hartford near exit 27 at 4:11 a.m. on Sunday. He struck a metal guardrail and went down an embankment, police said.

Police are investigating and ask anyone who witnessed the crash to call state police in Hartford at 860-534-1000.
