West Haven Residents Fight Back During Break-In

One intruder is still on the loose.

West Haven residents fought back against two intruders during a home invasion, subduing one of them and stabbing the other, according to police.

Police said one of the two men had a semi-automatic pistol when they broke into the Myrtle Avenue home at about 1:30 a.m.

Authorities said a resident of the home subdued one intruder and held him down until police arrived, and a woman in the house used a steak knife to stab the other man multiple times in his head and neck. The injured intruder fled and hasn't been found.

Police identified the suspect found subdued in the home as Roderick Lewis, 25, of New Haven, and he was arrested. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.

Officers are searching for the other person involved by using a police dog and checking area hospitals.

Police said this is not random. There is no need for public alarm.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
