Egypt More Dangerous for Tourists Than Yemen: Report

What country is more dangerous to visit than Pakistan, Yemen and Chad? Egypt is, according to the World Economic Forum's influential report on tourism — a ranking that could deal a bruising blow to the country's tourist-reliant economy. Egypt boasts beach resorts, balloon tours and, of course, the ancient pyramids — but its violent demonstrations, political upheaval and increasingly common kidnappings by Bedouin gunmen. From an attack on the InterContinental hotel in Cairo to unrest over sentences for a deadly soccer stadium riot, the unrest has seen Egypt's reputation sink for visitors from around the world. But one advisor to the country's tourism ministry said officials were "shocked" by the report and that Egypt isn't nearly as unsafe as media reports might suggest — a position many foreigners traveling in the country seemed to share. "I can say to anybody, go to Egypt! It's a nice country," one German tourist told NBC News.
