2 Skiers, Including Greenwich Man, Rescued from Mount Washington

Rescuers came to the aid of two Mount Washington skiers, including a Greenwich man, who were overcome by darkness when they tried to descend a trail on the New Hampshire mountain.

The skiers said the one light they had with them failed as they hiked down the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail on Sunday. They had not taken any other lights with them other than their cellphones. They called for help.

Conservation officers hiked up to find the skiers, who had made their way unknowingly to an area near the trail.

The pair were identified as 26-yeasr-old Michael Nocek, of Greenwich, Connecticut, and 25-year-old Loudon Fruth, of Huntsville, Utah.

Both were cold and wet, but otherwise fine.
