$20,000 in Phones and Tablets Stolen From Verizon Store

Police are investigating after $20,000 worth of phones and tablets were stolen from a Verizon Wireless store in Fairfield early Thursday.

According to police, the thief or thieves broke into the Verizon store on Kings Highway East and made off with more than 100 phones.

Included in the loot were 75 iPhones, 25 Android phones and 10 Android tablets, police said.

iPhones 4s and 5 models were stolen. Fairfield police said they believe the robber or robbers were after the newly announced iPhone 5c and 5s phones, but were not successful in locating them.

The new iPhones will hit stores tomorrow.

Police are actively investigating.
