2 Pedestrians Struck by Vehicle on Main Street in East Hartford

Two people were hospitalized after a car struck them on Main Street in East Hartford Sunday night, according to police.

Police say around 7:26 p.m. they responded to a report of two pedestrians hit by a car at 1209 Main Street.  The two victims, only identified as a male and a female, were both transported to the hospital. Police say their injuries are not life-threatening.

The driver of the car, identified only as a male, stayed on scene and is cooperating with police. There is no word on citations or charges at this time.

Main Street was initially shut down between Burnside Avenue and Prospect Street at 7:30 p.m. while police investigated. The road was partially reopened between Prospect Street and John Street around 8 p.m.  The entire road reopened around 11:30 p.m.
