Man in Elbow Room Disruption Fights Police, Damages Cruiser: Police

A Hartford man who tried to incite a brawl inside the Elbow Room in West Hartford Center is under arrest after continuing to be disruptive outside as he fought police trying to take him into custody and smashing a police cruiser window, police said.

Edward Miller, 21, was "trying to fight with everyone inside" the upscale restaurant in the Center before police responded to the call and found him lying on the sidewalk outside at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning, West Hartford police said.

When police tried to take him into custody, he continued to be disruptive and fought with officers to resist arrest, police said. They detained him and put him in CIT cruiser parked nearby, but he kicked out the back right window, shattering the glass, police said.

West Hartford police drove him back to the police station for booking in a prisoner van.

Police charged Miller with first-degree criminal mischief, breach of peace and interfering with a police officer.

The tan CIT car will remain out of service until the window is fixed.

The Elbow Room is known as a destination for fine dining  and upscale comfort food that has a rooftop bar and indoor connecting doorway to the adjoining Tap Room bar that shares an owner.
