A 28-year-old New Haven man who pleaded guilty to charges filed in connection with the fire that killed a mother, her 8-year-old son and 18-year-old niece in the Fair Haven section of New Haven in 2011 will be sentenced later this month.

In April 2013, Hector Natal, 28, was found guilty of committing an arson at 48-50 Wolcott St. in New Haven, a multifamily house that resulted in deaths of 42-year-old Wanda Roberson, her 8-year-old son, Quayshawn and her 21-year-old niece, Jaqueeta Roberson, according to federal officials.

He was found guilty on one narcotics charge, one attempted arson charge and three arson charges.

He and his father, Hector Morales, were tried together in U.S. District Court in New Haven.

Morales was found guilty on one narcotics charge, three charges of accessory to arson after the fact resulting in the deaths of Wanda, Jaquita and Quayshawn, two witness tampering charges and one conceal/destruct evidence charge. He was sentenced to 14 years.

Authorities said Natal set the fire in a drug dispute with another person in the building.
