Naugatuck Woman Charged with Unemployment Fraud

A Naugatuck woman is accused of stealing nearly $8,000 in unemployment compensation benefits while she was working at an auto dealership, according to the state Division of Criminal Justice.

Rachel Hinds, 46, was arrested by inspectors from the Unemployment Compensation Fraud Unit in the Office fo the Chief State’s attorney. She is charged with first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community and unemployment compensation fraud.

Investigators allege that Hinds collected approximately $7.789 in unemployment benefits from June through October 2012 when she was working at a Bristol auto dealership.

She was released on a $10,000 bond is and scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on October 27.
