Police Investigating 2 Unrelated Fatal Shootings in Bridgeport

Police are investigating two unconnected fatal shootings in Bridgeport early this morning.

Police responded to State Street at 2:14 to investigate a neighbor dispute that escalated into a shooting and found the victim, 44-year-old Ronald Simmons, at Norman and Fremont streets. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital, according to police.

As police were investigating the shooting of Simmons, there was another fatal shooting.

Police said it happened in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Alice Street and the victim, 44-year-old Reginald May, lived in the building.

It’s not clear what the motive to the second fatal shooting is, but police said the two incidents are not connected. They called the shootings isolated and said there does not appear to be any threat to the general public.

These are the 15th and 16th homicides in Bridgeport this year.
