The operators of a Bridgeport power plant will pay a nearly $300,000 penalty for allegedly exceeding pollution limits and underreporting emissions, state environmental regulators said.
On Monday, the Department of Environmental Protection announced a consent agreement with Bridgeport Energy LLC, which operates two electricity generating turbines in the state's largest city.
Bridgeport Energy officials didn't immediately return a message seeking comment Monday.
The DEP said the company has also paid $345,000 in past due emissions fees and spent nearly $1 million on new pollution control equipment to address the violations.
The agency says the company exceeded carbon monoxide limits and underreported carbon monoxide emissions in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
