Resident Shot During Home Invasion in Montville

A Montville resident was shot in the back during a home invasion on Thursday night and police are looking for the intruders.

State police responded to a home on Maple Avenue in Montville at 11:06 p.m. after receiving a report that someone had been shot.
 
When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the back. He told police that two masked men entered his home, hit him in the head and forced him into the kitchen, state police said.

As the resident tried to run, one of the intruders shot him, state police said.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Backus Hospital. Police said the injuries are not life-threatening.

A female resident who was in the home during the home invasion was not hurt.

Troopers searched the area for the assailants, but did not find them.

The investigation continues and anyone who saw anything or anyone in the area of Maple Avenue in Montville last night is asked to call State Police at 860 848-6500.
