1 Dead, 2 Injured in Crash on Route 202 in Litchfield



    Determined Triathlete Never Lost Hope

    One person was killed and two others were hurt in the two-car crash that closed down Route 202 in Litchfield on Thursday morning.

    Police said the cars were traveling in opposite directions on Route 202 when they collided near the intersection with Baldwin Hill Road.

    The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. when the car traveling eastbound crossed the center line and drifted into oncoming traffic, according to state police.

    The driver of that car, 32-year-old Stephen Grogg, of Warren, died from internal injuries sustained in the crash. Passenger Tara Carvell, 30, was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with broken bones, police said.

    The second driver, identified as 66-year-old Dorian Hickton of Torrington, was flown to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar for treatment of severe internal injuries, according to police.

    Emergeny crews were on the scene and the road was shut down for several hours following the crash.

    Authorities are investigating.
