Voters in 24th District Head to the Polls

Newington and New Britain residents are choosing a new State Rep.

Voters in parts of Newington and New Britain are heading to the polls on Tuesday to elect a new state representative.

There is a vacancy in the 24th General Assembly District ever since Timothy O’Brien, a Democrat, resigned in November to begin serving as mayor of New Britain.

O'Brien succeeded Republican Tim Stewart, who chose not to seek another term in office.

:Important decisions are being made in Hartford that will affect all of us, so I want to make sure voters in the 24th district have a voice in who represents them in state government," Secretary of the State Denise Merrill said.

The polls will be open until 8 p.m.
