Airport Accident: 6 People Hospitalized

Six people are at area hospitals and a 28-year-old Granby man is under arrest after police say he was driving drunk near Bradley Airport.  His car reportedly ran a red light and slammed into a Roncari Express shuttle bus.

The accident happened around 1:30 this morning, just as the shuttle bus was leaving the airport filled with passengers.

State police say Jeffrey Baillergeon of Granby was driving his pick-up truck under the influence of alcohol and failed to stop at a flashing red light.  There were 14 people on the bus including the driver.  Six people were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to moderate.  One person suffered a severe leg injury.

Baillargeon has been arrested and charged with assualt in the second degree with motor vehicle, DWI and failure to stop at the light.

He has been released on bond and will be arraigned in Enfield Superior Court on March 16.
