Allen Takes it to the Bank

Former UConn star, current Boston Celtic, and future Hall-of-Famer Ray Allen  is going from bank shots to bank spots.

Allen has just signed a marketing deal with Waterbury-based Webster Bank.

The signing of Allen comes shortly after Red Sox Ace Jon Lester signed a marketing deal with rival People's Bank.

Allen, who could become the all-time 3-point king by week's end, will appear in Webster ads and at Webster events for the next two years.  It appears to be a win-win for the bank both in Connecticut and across New England, with Allen's push toward the record putting his visibility at or near an all-time high.

If the first ad is any indication, Allen will get to use his acting chops once again, though he's no Jesus Shuttlesworth in the spot.  It also reunites him with UConn Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun, who's also a Webster spokesman to form what the bank calls "The Webster Dream Team."
