Our Slice of Economic Pie

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a $819 billion bill on Wednesday as part of a recovery plan to pull America out of its economic collapse.

But what does that mean for us in Connecticut? Where is all that money going?

Here is where some of that money will be going in CT as reported by The Hartford Courant:

  • $1.2 billion – Federal Medicaid dollars
  • $718 million – “Fiscal stabilization” fund, for public services and education
  • $584 million – Infrastructure projects, for roads, bridges, clean water, mass transit
  • $146 million – Special education
  • $117 million – K-12 school construction
  • $81 million – Additional dollars for poorer school districts
  • $1.2 million - Approximate number of CT taxpayers eligible for a federal tax-credit of $500
