Cookie Crook Arrested

The cookie crumbled badly for a man in Meridan Saturday after his attempted burglary was "trefoiled".

Meriden Police arrested a man they say stole money from the Girl Scouts as they were selling their treats outside a local supermarket.

Jonathan Calderone, 23, allegedly swiped the scout's cash box Saturday afternoon.  It happened while the scouts were selling cookies outside the Stop and Shop supermarket on Broad Street. The troop leader chased Calderone and wrestled the box away from him. Calderone took off again, but police found him a short time later.
