A Middletown man was killed and his passenger was critically injured in a crash on I-91 in Cromwell on Thursday.
The accident happened just before 10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-91 just prior to Exit 23.
According to state police, 24-year-old Jemel Williams lost control of his Volkswagen Beetle and hit another car before careening off the highway and into a tree.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, 29-year-old Brandon Stwart, was airlifted to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the other car was not injured.
