Route 63 in Bethany Reopens

Route 63 was closed in Bethany after a minor crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer near Pleasant Drive, but it has reopened.

State police said the driver of a Volvo truck was turning into a driveway on Route 63 South near Almar Drive just before 5:30 a.m. and became disabled in the road when a driver in a Chevy Colbalt hit the right side of the truck.

The driver of the Cobalt complained of back and chest pain and was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital to be evaluated.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

State police said there was a ruptured fuel tank and crews from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection were called to respond.

The driver of the truck was found to be at fault and was cited for improper parking, according to police.
