Bank Robbery Search Leads Police to Another Burglary Suspect

A manhunt for bank robbers in Woodbridge led police to another suspect.  Woodbridge police chased the robbers into New Haven, Monday, but they eluded capture, even after an intensive search. However, a man returning home noticed his back door had been damaged and got police, who found the person locked inside. He has nothing to do with the bank robbery, police said.

Homicide Victim Identified

Hartford police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting last week. Derrick Stephenson, 36, was found on Enfield Street about 2 a.m. last Friday. He had been shot several times. Stephenson was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center for treatment and died about four hours later.  Hartford police are still investigating the shooting.

Man Arrested in Fatal Crash

A Montville man has been charged with manslaughter and drunken driving in connection with a four-vehicle crash in Preston last fall. Mitch Leaghi, 50, was charged Monday after turning himself in. Several Foxwoods employees were injured and another driver died in the crash on Route 2, according to police. A sport-utility vehicle sideswiped a minivan, triggering a collision involving a bus carrying nine Foxwoods employees returning to their vehicles after work, according to police.
