Don't Approach Missing 400-Pound Cow

Animal control does not want the cow to run into traffic.

A cow is missing near the Orange-West Haven city line and animal control officials warn it could be a bit dangerous and do not want people to approach it.

The 400-pound animal, which fled from a farm on Prindle Hill Road, is a "runner and a jumper" and could cause problems if it is approached, animal control officer Rick George told the New Haven Register.

George said he worried that the cow could run into a congested area of the city if approached and said it can jump up to 7 feet in the air.

“We’re in a congested area in the city and we don’t want the cow to run into a car,” he told the Register. “That would cause a serious mishap.”

The cow was last seen around 8 p.m. on Tuesday near Gulf Pond.
