Kids Inspired To Fight Against Cancer

A Hartford health facility is launching a new childhood cancer education program, and it was all spurred by a 7-year-old Simsbury boy.

The boy and his friends, inspired by Lance Armstrong's battle with cancer, set up a lemonade stand at a community fair and raised $100 for the Charter Oak Health Center. The health center decided to establish its new Families Against Cancer program, which is designed to raise awareness about childhood cancer among children.

The goal is to educate children about the warning signs and to tell their parents if they notice something unusual happening to their bodies.

Charter Oak Health Center will provide speakers for health fairs, school programs, church groups, and youth centers.
