Hartford Police Make Arrest in July 12 Shooting

Hartford police have arrested a man on charges stemming from a July 12 shooting at 831 Maple Ave.

Police say on July 12 at 3:23 a.m. they responded to multiple calls of shots fired. They located an abandoned vehicle across the street from the Citgo station with heavy front end damage after hitting a pole. There were bullet holes in the front windshield.

According to police the intended victim of the shooting arrived at Hartford Hospital, stating he crashed his vehicle while fleeing gunfire. He was suffering from facial injuries as a result of the crash, as determined by doctors.

The Hartford Police Shooting Task Force obtained video of the incident and identified the suspect as eighteen-year-old Jerry Duncan, of Hartford. An arrest warrant was granted on July 16 and Duncan was arrested at 74 Yale Street on Friday. Police say the firearm from the incident was also recovered.

Duncan is charged with criminal attempted murder, criminal attempted assault, carrying a pistol without a permit, and having a weapon in a motor vehicle. Bond was set at $2,000,000.
