A court-appointed receiver says the former owner of a failed Waterbury home heating oil company spent millions of dollars of corporate money on personal expenses.
Carlton Helming, the receiver for F&S Oil, said Richard Stevens spent $3.8 million on country club dues, liquor and home costs.
The company closed a year ago, affecting thousands of heating oil customers, including more than 5,300 who paid about $3.4 million in advance for their oil or service contracts.
Stevens' lawyer said the accusations are unfounded.
