A man who barricaded himself inside a South Windsor home for several hours on Wednesday and threatened to harm himself was found dead, police said.
Police received a report of a domestic disturbance at 463 Avery St. at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
A husband and wife were arguing as their daughter left the house, police said. The woman, who was not injured, also left the house, but the man remained inside.
About six houses on Avery Street were evacuated because of reports that the man might have had weapons, police said.
Around 8 p.m. after unsuccessful attempts to contact the man inside, a robot from the Hartford Police Department was sent into the house. The video images from the robot showed the man dead inside.
Avery Street was shut down and residents were told not to leave their homes at the time of the incident. Some buses from local schools were also rerouted to avoid the street.
The road has since been reopened to traffic and residents were allowed back into their homes.
