One Dead, Two Injured After Accident in Southington

One person has died and two others are injured after a two-car collision in Southington Saturday morning.

Crews responded to the area of I-691 near Orchard Lane just before 1:30 a.m.

Investigators said a 2008 BMW was traveling in an easterly direction and a 2015 Subaru was traveling in a westerly direction.

The BMW crossed the double yellow lines and collided with the Subaru. It then left the road and overturned, police said.

According to officers, the male occupant in the BMW, later identified as 23-year-old Vincent Fairbanks, of Meriden, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old female occupant in the car sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Mary's Hospital.

The driver of the Subaru, identified as a 63-year-old Southington man, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Bradley Memorial Hospital, investigators added.
